University faculty members wonder if adding an honor code will
increase education standards.
In the 2007-’08 academic year,
the university handled 218 scholastic dishonesty referrals, an increase
from 110 in the 2006-’07 year.
During its February meeting, the UTA’s
Academy of Distinguished Teachers
expressed interest in researching the
concept.
Organizational behavior professor Jim Quick said the purpose is to
help ensure that students’ work —
like essays, research and papers — is
