If a tornado struck campus today, Monica Escamilla wouldn’t feel prepared.
“I’d probably jump into
the shower or closet,” she
said.
Beyond that, Escamilla,
an undeclared freshman,
said she wouldn’t know
what else would be proper
procedure should such a
storm strike.
This is her
first year living on campus.
The National Weather
Service issued a hazardous
weather outlook for North
Texas at least through tonight, and Escamilla, along
with thousands of other
university community
members, could face the reality of a tornado, as a massive storm system passes
through central states in
the country.
The university
released a message toward
the end of the afternoon
Monday, informing the
UTA community that it is
aware of the forecast.
