Carrizo Oil & Gas has donated $5
million to UTA toward construction
of the Special Events Center in the
largest act of philanthropy in the
university’s history.
Carrizo’s contribution goes toward the completion of the 6,500seat Special Events Center being
constructed on the eastern edge
of campus, which will be home to
UTA’s volleyball and basketball
teams.
“They’ve been a good partner of
the university and obviously we are
appreciative of their generosity,” university spokeswoman Kristin Sullivan said.
Last year Carrizo, the company
that’s responsible for drilling 22 gas
wells on campus, donated $1 million
to establish a graduate research fellowship program at UTA.
