The Shorthorn senior staff
Authorities are searching for Pankaj Joshi, who
they believe fled the country after being charged in
September on one count of claiming a lottery prize by
fraud, a crime punishable by up to 20
years in prison.
Multiple media
outlets have depicted the accused Joshi
as a current UTA
student.
University
spokesperson Kristin
Sullivan said someone with the same
name as Joshi’s is a
UTA alumnus.
“We had a person by that name,
and that person was
roughly the same
age reported in the
media,” she said.
“That person graduated in December of 2008 with a bachelor’s [degree] in management information systems.
”
Joshi, a 25-year-old of Nepalese descent, worked
as a clerk in Grand Prairie’s Lucky Food Store.
