The Shorthorn staff
Maverick pride goes miniature with the creation of a laser-cut mascot mark, which depicts
UTA’s horse mascot, measuring about one millimeter across.
That’s roughly the thickness of a credit card.
The mark is the product of electrical engineering doctoral candidate Hung Cao’s research and
electrical engineering professor J.
C.
Chiao’s school
spirit.
Cao makes the mark from wafers of silicon
and etches detail-lines into the surface with a
small laser.
The first marks were made in the last
week of March.
