Real Time Information (RTI) went live at 6 a.
m.
on Saturday 6 April 2013 as planned and HMRC has
confirmed that it is going well.
Joining RTI
Unless an employer has specifically been given another date by HMRC, then they are expected to join
RTI from the first payday in April providing the payday falls on or after 6 April 2013.
The majority of employers are expected to join between April and October this year and it is mainly
employers with over 5,000 on their PAYE reference that will be joining RTI after May 2013, although
some smaller employers with less than 5,000 on the payroll jobs have negotiated a post May 2013 date
with HMRC for various reasons.
Aligning Data
Employers with 250 or more on the payroll will be required to submit an Employer’s Alignment
Submission (EAS) to align their data with HMRC’s, prior to their first RTI submission.
This will be
accomplished through their payroll software.
