Everyone should be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast.
August 30, 2012
Dear Coach Chizik,
Lenard Lee, age 85, is a disabled veteran.
He lives alone in his small home in Auburn.
He normally spent
Thanksgiving with his wife, but she recently passed away from a sudden heart attack.
Since he is elderly
he does not have any income and is unable to drive himself to the grocery store to get food.
The only
person Lee has to celebrate Thanksgiving with is his assistant living nurse.
The Samaritan House runs several homeless shelters and soup kitchens.
Research has seen a 10 percent
jump in the number people using their services in the past year.
The Samaritan House hosts an annual
Thanksgiving dinner where the needy receive a free meal.
Last year, the Thanksgiving meal served more
than 2,000 people in the community.
Coach Chizik, I think Lee deserves what other families have for the holidays, a hot home-cooked meal.
This is the season
