Spanish Design for Russian Trains
The Spanish company Talgo has signed an agreement with the Russian state
rail body RZD to design and manufacture new trains.
Spain, February 21, 2013 -- The importance of this agreement between the Spa
nish company and the Russian rail operator lies in the fact that the Russian
rail sector is the second largest in the world, with overnight trains being
required to cover 98% of the huge distances in this country.
Talgo’s capaci
ty to design and supply trains therefore provides the perfect solution to th
e Russian company RZD’s needs and its plans to overhaul its fleet of passeng
er carriages by 2030.
According to Talgo, this agreement “will make it possible to develop a mode
rn train with all the latest features, which will meet 100% of the Russian
market’s needs in terms of technology and comfort”.
The company will adapt
its rail technology to Russia’s specific needs in terms of climate, inside
