BMW began with the manufacturers Rapp Motorenwerke and Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (BFw) in Bavaria, and Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach in Thuringia. It started to manufacture automobiles in 1929 with the acquisition of Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach, and that produced Austin Sevens under license.
