Project-Based Learning explores real-world issues through an academic and
very pragmatic way.
Not only does this way of educating (and being
educated) weave together critical thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on
experiential learning; it also mimics the type of collaboration and scenarios
to expect in a workplace environment.
In reflecting upon what we are learning by creating our digital portfolios, I
think that this kind of project forces you to stretch yourself beyond the
comfortable boundaries that you would otherwise work within.
It’s guided
discovery.
Humans are natural doers, inventors, and creators.
If necessity is
the father of invention, than we as students need to have more
opportunities presented to get creative, innovative, and to naturally build
skills in the process.
I think that a common misconception associated with
going to school lies in the notion that when you’re an academic, you’re
being taught to think like an academic.
