How are Warts Caused in Children?
Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus or HPV, a viral infection that is contagious.
Warts are noncancerous skin growths that form when the virus invades the body through an
opening in the skin, usually a little cut or scratch.
Once in the body antibodies attack the virus.
The virus can die or incubate in the body from 1 or 20 months.
That makes it hard to trace the
virus to the source.
Once developed in the body the virus causes a fast growth of cells on the
outer layer of skin.
This is the wart.
How To Guard Your Child From Getting Warts?
A child can come into contact with the HPV virus several ways.
They can get the virus through
skin to skin contact, by touching a towel that has been touched by someone with HPV.
HPV is
not highly contagious, but if there is an opening in the skin the virus will have an opportunity to
enter the body.
Make sure your child doesn’t pick at their cuts and they are covered with a
bandaid.
