There was recently a case in the news highlighting how victims of domestic abuse, violent crime and rape are treated in court. Recently a violinist killed herself after being branded a liar and a fantasist by a female barrister defending the man who sexually abused her.
Frances Andrade, 48, killed herself during the trial of choirmaster Michael Brewer and his ex-wife Kay, both 68. The accused were convicted the pair of six counts of indecent assault yesterday.
This is indeed a very saddening case, whereby we have a young victim of abuse who through vulnerability is unable to share this information with those that might have been able to help her at the time.
