Perpetrators of domestic violence and abuse are often unwilling to admit or recognise that they and they alone are responsible for their actions. Instead they make excuses for their behaviour blaming it on the set of circumstances or run up to the argument, or by blaming their partner.
Reflecting or exploring their own behaviour would mean they would have to look inwards and take responsibility, and this would mean that they would have to examine and deal with their own vulnerabilities and emotions and work through them as opposed to blaming others.
