1) Teaching is a complex and personal expression of knowing and knowledge NOT
an application of a set of disembodied, acontextual principles and theories.
Teaching isn t just about reciting everything to your students from a book, and no one
method of teaching will work for every single student.
As teachers, we are constantly learning
and researching about our individual students and how they learn best.
Although out styles often
coincide with recognized theories, these methods are often molded to the individual students and
not just to a book of theories and principles.
Each year, each student we interact with, each new
event that occurs, we learn and adapt ourselves to do everything possible to encourage success
on our students.
As teachers, set principles and theories may be a good way to start, but they will
