FrontPoint Security compiled home safety tips from the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) to share with the public, especially for next month‘s most awaited Holiday season.
The NFPA says that cooking remains top cause of
home structure fires.
Fire departments across the
States responded to an average of 371,700 home
structure fires from 2006 to 2010.
According to a
report released by the NFPA, there are estimated
civilian deaths amounting to 2,590, and $7.
2 billion
worth of property damaged annually.
The report
entitled Fire Loss in the United States during 2011
also mentioned that many of these accounted fires
happened during the busy holiday season, between
Thanksgiving and New Year‘s.
During busy holiday preparations, people have the tendency to overlook potential fire starters,
like turkey fryers and space heaters.
