Can Charge Offs Be Removed?
The desire to remove charge offs from your credit reports can be accomplished,
although it is very difficult and requires the skilled work of a credit repair company.
The definition of a charge off is an account that has been closed by the original
creditor and written off and sold to a third party collection company, or closed and
assigned to a collection agency to handle the recovery duties.
When this occurs there
is a good chance that your credit reports get double dinged.
Once, by the charge off
and then again by the company in charge of now collecting that debt.
One mistake
can lead to two negative accounts reporting to your credit.
This can have a
devastating negative affect on your credit scores and can tank your score to the
bottom level of credit scores almost instantly.
In order for any account to remain reporting they have to be 100% accurate, and
often times when they charge off an account they report incorrect information.
