There are several reasons that someone would want to dispute credit report items,

An alarming fact is that over
70% of all credit reports contain errors, and information not belonging to the
individual.
This means that more then 7 out of 10 people have information that does
not belong to them being reported to the credit bureaus.
You would think that the
credit reporting agencies would do a better job at making sure only true and
accurate information is being reported, but this is not the case at all.
In reality they
are concerned with only one thing, and that is making money.
Ask anyone who has
tried to get information corrected by the credit bureaus directly.
It is a complete
nightmare and most of the times the problem is not fixed.
