The Teotihuacan.
Teotihuacan, 48 miles northeast of Mexico City,
with its giant pyramids, palaces, temples,
housing projects, workshops, markets and
avenues, was the largest pre-Hispanic city in
Mesoamerica.
The Teotihuacan culture lasted
nearly ten centuries and reached its peak
between 300 and 600 AD, are considered as the
seat of civilization representative of the Classic
period.
Teotihuacan influence manifested throughout
Mesoamerica and even beyond, as they have
found abundant features of this culture in the
states of Nayarit, Durango, Zacatecas and
Chihuahua.
In the second century BC, people from other
areas of the Valley of Mexico began to settle in
the western part of the city of Teotihuacan.
Some of these people came from Cuicuilco,
population that was abandoned due to the
eruption of Xitle, which formed the current
Pedregal de San Angel.
