A stove fan is an add-on accessory for a solid fuel burning stove be it coal, coke, wood or
pellets.
It is a stand alone accessory with no power requirements which ensure that all heat
produced by the stove is used efficiently.
The principle of wood stove heating is by radiation of the heat produced like an open fire, and
like an open fire most of the useful heat is lost upwards through the flue or chimney air
trapped at ceiling level.
This means we have to consider two scientific principles, don’t worry it’s not rocket science
just high school physics, honest.
Firstly when air is heated it expands so it’s lighter so it rises.
Easy, which means the hottest
part of the room is on the ceiling, not good.
To ensure that the most economic use of the heat
we produce we need to recirculate this heat down.
Secondly when two different conductors are heated they produce electricity, probably won’t
get the Nobel Prize for the explanation but we don’t need to know how, just it happens.
