Why the Office for Mission Education
and Animation?
The Office for Mission Education and
Animation has long roots in the Archdiocese
of Chicago.
It was inaugurated on January
27, 1925 by Cardinal Mundelein as the local
branch of the Society for the Propagation of
the Faith.
He became its First Perpetual Member.
Father James J.
Horsburgh became the director of the newly formed Office for the
Propagation of the Faith.
At a meeting held at the then Quigley
Preparatory Seminary Cardinal Mundelein outlined a plan for the
new office that had been approved by the Holy Father.
The First
Annual Report of the Confraternity for the Propagation of the
Faith Archdiocese of Chicago states:
