Orest Czornopysky recently came to live at
Blossom South.
He is an accomplished artist and
drew the pictures of Blossom South’s courtyard
from memory.
Orest was born in the Ukraine then lived briefly
in Poland until Hitler took arms to the Ukrainian
Nationalist.
He lived in Germany until 1949 and
moved to America at the age of nine.
He arrived
in New York Harbor on July 4, 1949 and entered
through Ellis Island.
From Ellis Island, his family
took a train directly to Rochester.
He lived and
grew up on Main Street across from the old
movie house.
After high school he went to SUNY Delhi to study
architectural design, drawing and building.
He
discovered that mathematics was not his best
