Old Traditions of Permanent Agriculture
Permanent agriculture, or “permaculture,” as it is sometimes
called, is a form of sustainable living and gardening which
utilizes the wilderness and wildlife aspects of non-human
areas.
In many ways, permanent agriculture is meant to
produce a legacy, passed down from one generation to
another.
However, pollutions and chemical wastes have
reduced old permanent agricultural systems to a shadow of
their former glory.
The solution is in changing the way we use chemicals.
Nature
changes, and adapts, and thrives when something bad or
decaying hits it.
However, the development of our chemical
processes depends upon the future sustainability of things
which are affected by these chemicals.
We must consider the importance of retaining sustainability in the crops, in the layers of food
production in our gardens, and in the permanence of food supply in systems which have lasted for
hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of years.
