The term ‘family’ has come to mean different things throughout the years.
In the past, a family
was defined by two parents and children.
At present, the idea of family has changed; while the
traditional notion still stands, the word has also come to mean a group of people or unit
consisting of friends and colleagues.
No matter what the definition of family is, one thing is certain: the people who make up the
family are all affected if one of them struggles with drug or alcohol addiction.
Many people fail to realize that the disease that is drug or alcohol addiction is not solely the
addict’s problem.
Family members and friends are influenced by the situation, and they suffer as
well.
Here at Alcohol Rehab Hotline, we do not only treat the person battling drug or alcohol
addiction—we also involve the family in the treatment process through our family program.
