Introduction
Carnival typically involves a public celebration or parade combining some elements of
a circus, mask and public street party.
People often dress up or masquerade during the
celebrations.
Do you celebrate Carnival at your school? How do you celebrate it? Do you have a special
carnival party? Do you wear a fancy-dress costume?
Even if you do not celebrate Carnival at your school, tell the children about the tradition
of dressing up in Carnival and about the parades that take place in different parts of the
world.
As most pre-school children love dressing up, books, and colours, now you can help them
make their own Carnival Book.
You will need:
one copy of the cover of the book (Worksheet 1) for each child, preferably on card
one copy of the chosen costumes (Worksheets 2 and 3) for each child

stapler and sellotape
