Where they came from
These ponies were originally found on Shetland Isles just north of Scotland in the 19th
century.
This is, of course, where they got their name.
They were actually very strong,
and were known for their thick, warm coats and large manes and tails.

strong limbs and very tiny nimble feet, which allowed them to handle the rough terrain of
the island.
They were also known for their ability to thrive off a minimal amount of food.
