Lower alendronate doses have been reportedly linked to a higher risk of heart problems among patients, a recent study suggests, pointing out that osteoporosis patients who are taking less than the appropriate dosage may stand at an increased risk of developing two types of cardiovascular dysfunction, including acute myocardial infarction and atherosclerosis of the coronary vessels, by about 50 percent, compared to their peers who may have received higher doses of the antiresorptive bone drug.
