When one hears much of the public debate
in Puerto Rico regarding the terrible crime
situation the same claims, or should we say
excuses, keep popping up over and over.
Crime
is out of control because of the economic crisis.
Murders are rampant because people are poor
and they’re unemployed.
It’s the loss of
Christian values.
Well, it’s not that simple.
Many American
communities have been hit just as hard as
Puerto Rico by the economic tsunami of 2008.
Some have been hit harder with hundreds of
thousands of families losing their jobs, their 401
K’s, their cars and even their homes.
