The contract for the leasing of Puerto Rico’s Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport is
so complicated, so full of technical details that it is very difficult to read.
Even highly educated,
intelligent people like Charlie Hernandez, a lawyer and Jay Fonseca, an investigative reporter
confessed that they would need the help of other professionals, such as aviation experts of
different specialties and economists to make sense of the words and terms in the contracts.
Why?
Here in Aguadilla we should be very, very interested in this contract for two reasons.
It is
far reaching.
The contract is for 40 years.
So once it is set into motion it will be four decades
before it can be easily modified.
The second reason is that it has a number of clauses that relate
to the other airports of Puerto Rico, specifically the Aguadilla International Airport.
