The hidden gems of Moscow
If you are not afraid of chilly weather and lots of snow, why not visit Russia in winter? To many
that can be a quite exotic experience! Even if you have already been to Moscow, for example,
you still can find a lot of places of interest to see.
After having visited all the main attractions
like Red Square, the Moscow Kremlin, Old Arbat Street, Sparrow Hills and the State Tretiakov
Gallery for a less touristy feel, escape to the Patriarshy (Patriarchy) Ponds - the location of
Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel, The Master and Margarita.
It’s a quiet residential area in the heart of the city; in winter, the pond is turned into a skating
rink, beautifully decorated with colourful lights.
At the end of Novy Arbat Street, you can take
the river pathway which eventually becomes free of traffic and relatively serene.
