Only equities offer easy profits
The Phoenix (or fire bird) myth has existed across many cultures
from Japan to Vietnam, Russia to Arabia and Egypt to Greece
since ancient times.
Often newer religions such as Christianity
adopted its symbolism (resurrection) to reinforce their followers.
Whilst the many phoenix legends vary, their base is similar.
The
first written record was by the Greek historian Herodotus in the
fifth century BC although Phoenix paintings appear earlier in
Egyptian tombs.
The story runs thus: after a long life cycle, the
Phoenix constructs a funeral pyre, on which it roasts itself to
ashes.
From these it is reborn more glorious and powerful than
before.
That so many „primitive‟ agrarian societies shared this
myth is not surprising, given the inherent cyclicality of their daily
lives.
Sophisticated modern governments, whether left or right-leaning,
often promise to put an end to “the boom/bust cycle”.
