Swarms of Bats
Bees aren’t the only creatures that swarm and this time of year is great for catching sight of
swarming bats.
Now they’ve reared their young they gather, often in large numbers, before
heading to their hibernation sites for the cold winter months.
This is the perfect time of
year to catch a glimpse of one of the UK’s rarer bats, the Greater Horseshoe (Rhinolophus
ferrumequinum), along the rocky coastline of Purbeck where it hibernates in caves.
