A delay in awarding a tender for
grazing on municipal land in Dundee
is causing concern among residents
whose properties border the
commonage.
With the onset of winter, residents
on Buffalo Drive in Strathmore Park
and farms whose land adjoins the
municipal ground fear that with the
land not having been utilised since
December, conditions are ripe for
fierce veld fires.
Shaughn Lake, who has a property
on Buffalo Drive, says farmers who
hire the land for grazing also maintain
the fences.
“If this is not kept up to
date, the fences will be stolen and will
eventually cost ratepayers a fortune to
replace.
