Bio warfare on gall wasp

THE Eucalyptus Gall Wasp,
Leptocybe invasa which was
found in Zululand in September
last year, is under attack as
foresters strike back, thanks to
the approval of the bio-control
agent, Selitrichodes neseri, a parasitic wasp of Leptocybe.
The first Selitrichodes were
released at four sites in Zululand
and it is hoped that more releases
will be possible as their populations increase.
Releases were done on Mondi’s
Shaya Estate, Erlandson Estate,
Sappi’s Teza Estate and Zenith
Estate at eNseleni.

could not be maintained at high
enough levels for a mass release,
