TWO bombers flew into KwaMbonambi
on Sunday 1 July and will be on standby
for the next four months, marking the start
of the fire season in Zululand.
Pilots Patrick Clough and Martin du
Plooy will be supported by a fixed wing
spotter plane piloted by Simon Gower.
The spotter will be used for patrols on
high fire danger days as well as helping
direct the bombers in the event of a fire.
They will be backed up by ground crew
including personnel from the Working on
Fire programme and the timber companies.
