A phishing scam that targets Amazon users have been enabling scammers
to rake in some gold through bogus emails.
Such email messages are being sent out to a massive number of email
addresses the scammers have and are made to look like an authentic
message from Amazon — they usually come from a legit-looking email
address and will have the Amazon logo, too.
Scam messages usually contains believable stories, like the cancellation of
your order or some discrepancy in your credit card details or that there’s
been some technical problem in their site that will require you to register
again — stories that are all made-up by the way.
The scam message will include a link that will direct you to a bogus
website that looks a lot like Amazon.
It will ask you to enter your login
details and credit card info to “verify” or “complete your order”.
Amazon does not ask for personal information like that by sending you an
email message — ever.
