It’s Difficult to Predict the Outcome in OIL Rich SYRIA
With the death of Muammar Gaddafi all eyes are now focused on Syria in a year of upheaval in many
of the Muslim Countries of the Mediterranean.
Egypt, Tunisia and Libya have all seen popular
demand lead to regime change but Syria’s stubborn leadership seems intent on retaining power with
repression as its main weapon.
The issues throughout the Region have been human rights and better living conditions though it is a
moot point whether quality of life has improved in Iraq, one of Syria’s neighbours with the
overthrow of Saddam Hussein a few years ago.
The World is yet to know whether Libya’s people will find a better life under whatever new regime
emerges; indeed there is concern that fundamentalist elements expect a role within the new Libya.
