The Elder Scrolls series Imperial Guard
If there is any series where prominent conceptual designs have been used, it
is the Elder Scrolls series, which has shown a great deal of progression over
the years, influenced both by the reaction of their fans and the increased
graphical ability of the modern computer/console.
The image below shows an Imperial Guard from The Elder Scrolls III:
Morrowind.
From the offset, the Guard heavily resembles an ancient Roman
soldier.
This is a trend that lasted only for this game, as the design was
changed dramatically in the next game, Oblivion, as evident by the
promotional artwork on the next page.

The visual element present is one that is directly familiar to us, in the design of
their armour and the weapons they use, which resemble those used by the
Romans.
