The localisation team is
responsible for the translation of
in-game text, and making the
game actually work in various
regions in the case of regionlocked consoles.
Their job is
also to deal with cultural and
legal differences in different
locales.
The translation part of
localisation does not only end at
translating the in-game text, as
other items that need
translating include manuals,
packaging, dialogue and the
official website.
A member of
the localisation team is required
to be fluent in at least one
language other than English.
This allows for games to be
released in a large number of
countries, instead of limiting it to
just a handful thanks to
language barriers.
SEGA Europe is the
European branch of a
worldwide games publisher.
Because of this they need to
translate games so that they
can be understood by
people in every country they
distribute in.
