Development Studio
A development studio is responsible for creating a game to satisfy the
publishing house.
Their primary role is to plan and put into production a game
that has been projected to sell, as the publisher intends it to.
Development studios vary considerably in size from less than 20 staff,
to over 250 members performing a variety of different tasks.
Development
studios are lead by the producer, who is part of the management team.
The
producer is heavily involved with the Team Leaders of all the departments to
keep the development smooth and to keep heavily to the brief.
Each
department of a development studio is lead by a Team Leader, these would
be the Lead Designer, Art Director, Technical Director, Audio Director, and
QA Manager.
Each Team Member is responsible for all of the staff members
within that particular department and all of the work that comes out of it, as
well as keeping communication with the other departments.
