What Makes a Good Mentor at the Auburn University Community Writing Center?
Many people have their own opinions on what makes a good mentor.
Such answers
like a strong sense of self, a good listener, someone offering support, encouragement and
listening, or shares knowledge and wisdom and draws out the possibilities have been used
to describe such a person.
The Auburn University Community Writing Center (AU CWC) is opening their doors
to enhance the culture of writing and writing instruction in the Auburn University and Lee
County communities in late December.
Students and faculty will mentor the community
members on writing.
Haley Bridges, a senior in education, is one of the mentors for this
program.
She became involved by tutoring as a student service intern for the Miller Writing
Center on the Auburn University campus.
The AU CWC came to her seeking her help on this
new adventure.
