Recently, there was again reports
from the eastern region of six local
governments areas where 53
communities were affected by the
floods.
The victims in these
communities recalled their sad
experiences on how their lives had
changed for the worse since the
flood.
For instance, they recounted
that some women who lost their
p r e g n a n c i e s w e r e y e t t o
recuperate; there was an increase
in malaria sickness, snake and
insects bites, owing to the
unavailable health care facilities,
which were also submerged in the
flood.
The flood victims also stated that
they were given between N500 and
N2000 as aid to re-build their
houses, washed away by the floods.
They also mentioned that no
government official had since
visited their camps to reemphasize that they were yet to
benefit from the relief and
rehabilitation program.

state government had made claims
