Today everybody wants to look beautiful and fancies a second look from others. Hence, popular adages such as “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” and “Beauty is only skin deep” which essentially encapsulate some fundamental truth, have become nothing but clichés.In fact, the perception of beauty has changed over the years. What was considered as beauty in earlier times might not be today, or in the future. In the classical period, beauty meant conformation to certain tenets but in the gothic period, the concept of beauty changed to something spiritual, only God was considered beautiful and the rest as unholy and evil. However, today the concept is entirely different.
