After periods of
heavy rain, the waste heaps can become unstable and flow down hopes, destroy
everything in their path and covering even larger areas of lands.
The bad effects on the local enviorment are after increased by the crushing and
refining of mineral ores that take place next to the mine.
Dust and fumes from chimneys where crushing , refining and smelting are
taking placecause air pollution.
also rivers and streams are polluted by water
flowing through old mine working and water creatures and plant life are killed
by the high concentration of minerals and shortage of oxygen
