Thought you might be.
General Electric, after recently making a thermal design breakthrough, has unveiled a 40-watt LED bulb
for use in regular home low energy lighting.
A second breakthrough in design helped to spread out the
light from the normally unidirectional LED bulbs.
A series of fins in the plastic casing containing the bulbs
disperses the light out from the bulbs.
LED lights still don’t disperse out the light like fluorescent tubes,
but they’re improving.
LED lights have several other advantages over fluorescent lights.
LED lights don’t have any mercury in
them, so they don’t emit that toxic metal if the bulb shatters, the way fluorescent lights do.
LED lights
aren’t as likely to break as fluorescent tubes, and their life is much longer.
