On the day the federal debt ceiling deal was announced by President Barack Obama, Army
Staff Sergeant Brien Vorhees, ’00, spent the day patiently sitting around, watching CNN for
updates, visiting CNN.
com and other websites for the latest news and reports, and mostly
waiting for the moment he and his colleagues knew would eventually come, springing them
into action.
As a videographer in the White House Communications Agency, Vorhees has given up
his uniform for business attire to serve in a unique military unit, providing communication
and information services to the president, White House staff, and other officials.
Among
his many responsibilities are videotaping the president’s public events, providing video
documentation to the National Archives, and videotaping the president’s weekly video
addresses.
