For Emily Behny, ’10,
landing the role of
Belle in the national
touring production of
Disney’s “Beauty and the
Beast”—her first gig post
graduation—has been
nothing short of a fairytale start to her career in
musical theatre.
“I still pinch myself sometimes
to find out if this is real,” the
Silver Lake native says.
“It is a
pretty incredible honor and
privilege to be a part of this
show.
”
The show, which is scheduled
to make a stop at Emens
Auditorium
Nov.
1, features the classic
storyline of Belle and Beast that
debuted on Broadway in 1994
along with a few visual updates
courtesy of the original director
and design team.
While singing, dancing, and
acting have been a part of
Behny’s life from an early age,
she initially ignored her passion
for theatre.
“I really wanted
to study it in college, but I just
thought it wasn’t as practical
of a route as I should go.
”

to Ball State as a junior
where she “soaked up” all
the learning she could about
