French designer, coco Chanel changed the concept of “feminine” forever.
In the 1920s,
she turned her back on the heavy, uncomfortable fashions of the day and made
comfortable, loose-fitting clothes instead.
Her aim was to set women free so that they
could become modern and more independent.
This is one of the reasons why she used so
many male fabrics like tweed or jersey, which were both soft and practical, to make the
first suits for women based on masculine styles.
Coco believed luxury should be easy to
wear.
