In December 2011, the UN General Assembly declared 11 October as the International Day of the Girl Child to recognize the rights and the challenges girls face around the world. This year’s theme is "Empowering adolescent girls: Ending the cycle of violence". It is important that people accept every girl’s right to be a leader, who instead, are often deprived of her rights due to forced marriage or other forms of violence, which sometimes veil behind cultural or tradition premises. Executive Director of UNFPA reminded the world that: “Every girl, no matter where she is born, should have a chance to reach her potential.
