case Santurbán paramo, which is located
in the department of Santander, with an
immense extention, excellent water
sources, and finally something but not
least "gold".
This latter topic has made the
Santurbán paramo, this year has
become one of the most important
topic for the country, where investment in
mining, as well as the defense of this
great natural reserve plays an important
role.
Santurbán is a natural reserve located in the
department of Santander, its area is estimated
about 200 thousand hectares, above 2,800
meters above sea level, and since it is a major
water source with over 60 lakes, there it is
born the Lebrija, Pamplonita and Zulia, and
partly Catatumbo and Arauca rivers.
