Mark Wilson
Alabama Historical Association Secretary
When Dr.
Mark Wilson wrote William Owen Carver’s Controversies in the Baptist South, he
joined the growing group of scholars making contributions to scholarly understanding of the
impact of theological modernism, ecumenism, and the social gospel in the South.
Wilson s book
illustrates William Owen Carver s denominational controversies that are still recognized today.
Wilson is currently the community and civic engagement coordinator for the College of Liberal
Arts.
He also teaches courses and organizes programs that promote shared learning experiences
among students and community collaborators.
Along with his book, Wilson has also written
several articles on southern religious history.
Wilson became a member of the Alabama Historical Association in the year 2000.
He became
secretary in 2008.
